Senior curriculum
A wide range of academic and vocational programs are provided in the Senior school including programs delivered on site, off site and in partnership with other registered training organisations. Each student is able to tailor a personal learning program to meet their individual learning needs and career goals. These programs prepare students well for further studies at university, TAFE or other registered training organisations or for progression onto apprenticeships, traineeships or full-time work.
The senior phase of learning for Year 11 and 12 students is an exciting time. Students can choose from a wide range of learning options that will help them when they leave school - whether they want to go to university,
TAFE or another further education and training provider, take up an apprenticeship or traineeship or get a job.
With such a wide range of subjects and courses to choose from, students often need help to identify their goals, develop a plan to reach them and keep themselves motivated along the way. Senior leadership opportunities
A range of leadership positions including Care Captain, Student Council, Sports House Captain, Debating, Band, Performing Arts Captain, Indigenous Captains, Student Council, Executive and Committee Chairperson as well as School Captain and Vice Captain.
Assessment calendars
The Assessment Calendar is given to students at the beginning of each semester.
Year 10 curriculum
The Year 10 Curriculum provides a link between Junior and Senior Schooling by helping students to succeed in Year 11 and 12. All Year 10 students need a Learner
Unique Identifier (LUI) account to track
their credits.

Senior Education and Training (SET) Plan
During Year 10, students can choose their pathway through the senior phase of learning. To finalise their learning plans, students with their parents/guardians will need to complete a Senior Education and Training (SET) plan interview.
Parents/carers can help students make informed decisions and clear goals about their future education, training, and employment using the

The senior phase of learning is particularly focused on providing students with the pathways to their post secondary school futures. Students can complete a full course of school subjects or can choose to complement their school program by undergoing work experience, a TAFE course or commence a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship.
Certificate courses
Laidley State High School offers a number of certificate courses to students during their senior schooling. The VET Student Information Handbook 2016 outlines the VET programs offered by the school as well as your rights and responsibilities as a VET student.
Work placement
All students regardless of academic ability can benefit from the opportunity to experience working in a vocation before proceeding into further study or the work force.
School-based apprenticeships and traineeships
School-based apprenticeships and traineeships are arranged separately to industry placements. If a student is able to secure a Apprenticeship or Traineeship, they will be paid a set wage for the duration and have access to TAFE courses to complete the necessary certification. Career Days and Open Day excursions
Career Days are run throughout the year for senior students. The school invites career men and women to these events to talk about their industry and answer questions students may have. Excursions to University Open Days are also planned for senior students to get hands on in industries such as Agriculture, Veterinary, Biomedical, Food and Plant Sciences.
Study enhancement programs
Senior students have the opportunity to undertake enhancement courses in their study areas outside of school hours. Students pay a fee to take advantage of these courses that are held during each term.
