Support Services Team
The Student Support Services Team looks after the wellbeing of all students at Laidley State High School. They meet once a fortnight to discuss referrals and other matters that affect the emotional, academic, social and mental health elements of students.
Support and Enquiries:
Students having mental health difficulties, family concerns, homeless, requiring support to access school and/or classes, looking for alternatives to high school (if over 16) or seeking access to external support agencies can contact Support Services
When at school, you can make an appointment through the front office or by going directly to Support Services in A Block.

Contact the Senior Youth Support Coordinator if you are in Year 10-12 and require support to:
- Access external support agencies e.g.: Ipswich Community Youth Service
- Engage in your education e.g.: communicate with your teacher your concerns/difficulties in accessing the curriculum
- Attend school regularly
- Prepare a resume and practice work ready skills
- Develop your social skills and/or self-esteem by participating in targeted groups
- Access to resources to engage in education

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Support Workers
Laidley State High School employs a CEC (Community Educational Counsellor) and two teacher aides to assist and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in all aspects of their schooling. This support is available five days a week and students can make appointments with the CEC directly.

The CEC involvement within our school consists of:
- Acting as an advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
- Positively promoting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture of our school.
- Providing opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students within school, in the community, in the work place.
- Supporting students to achieve a successful educational experience.
- Providing links with other support agencies e.g. Abstudy, Kambu Family Wellbeing, Kambu Health and Child Safety.
- Supporting student, parents, carers through issues that are of concern.
- Liaising with students in school grounds.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Teacher Aides' involvement within our school consists of:
- Success Coaching Program is a program to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students' attendance and engagement.
- In class support for Maths and English in Junior and Senior schooling.
